Yes, Stitch was named for the character in LILO & STITCH.

And yes, her bestest friend IS a pitty named, Lilo

But first, a little about Stitchie-poo.

She was rescued from a shelter in Durham, North Carolina, where it was reported that she was picked up off the streets, having had her ears brutally scissored off in what is thought to have been a punishment for not fighting.

She somehow had survived but barely. She was nursed back to health and was adopted out and then returned. 

When her furever pawrent saw her sitting quietly in the shelter, she knew she was THE ONE. And apparently, Stitch felt the same way.
