"How do you get those awesome photographs? My dog would never sit still for that!"
Well, Here’s a Little Secret...
All dogs, all sessions, and all locations are photographed with leashes on—every single time. It’s not just a rule; it’s a smart way to ensure your dog’s safety while capturing those amazing shots you see in our galleries.
The Reason Is Simple...
Unless we’re photographing your dog in your own backyard, most public locations—whether it’s a beach, a riverfront park, or a private garden—require dogs to be on a leash. But there’s more to it than just following the rules. Keeping your dog on a leash gives you more control, making it easier for your dog to sit, stand, or pose just where we need them.
Oh Yes, and Then There’s This...
To grab your dog’s attention (and maybe get that adorable head tilt), we use a variety of tricks—unique sounds, treat bags, and more. Even the best-trained dog might find their “stay” skills challenged in an exciting new location. That’s why we keep things stress-free for both you and your dog. This way, we can capture your dog’s true character and those lovable quirks that make them special.
All the dogs below had leashes on...
And Now, the Magic...
You’re probably wondering how we get those leash-free final images. It’s all thanks to our trusty digital sidekick, Photoshop! Here’s how we do it:
- We ask you to position your dog in a sit, down, or stand.
- You take one step away, holding the leash up straight.
- If possible, you move a bit farther and lean over while holding the leash up.
- Back in the editing room, we remove the leash (and sometimes even you) from the image!
What About Running, Jumping, Action Photos?
We’ve got that covered too! For action shots, we use a recall line, ensuring your dog can run, jump, and play safely while we capture every joyful moment.
Even these rescue images were taken on-leash!
So, If You’re Worried Your Dog Doesn’t Know Their Commands or Won’t Sit Still...
Don’t stress! We work with dogs on-leash in every session, so you and your pup can relax and enjoy the experience.
