Jacksonville Dog Photographer Joins Elite Photographers as Finalist in International Photographic Competition

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA — Two photographs created by Joan H. Walker of The PAWtographers in Jacksonville have recently been accepted as finalist images in the Professional Photographers of America’s 2024 International Photographic Competition. Walker’s work two images are each one of the 32 images in the Pet Portrait Category and the Reportage Category that will move on as finalists in the upcoming photo competition at Imaging USA in Louisville, KY—January 28-30, 2024. Imaging USA is one of the largest annual conventions and expos for professional photographers.
A total of 497 finalist images across 16 image categories will be judged in live head-to-head rounds by a panel of eminent jurors from across the United States. With each round, images will be randomly placed into brackets and judges will eliminate the number of images by half. In the end, the sixteen category winning photographers will walk away with a trophy and a check for $1,000. The overall winner of the competition will receive the Grand Imaging Award and a check for $10,000. “True Grit” (Pet Portrait) and “Street Tea” (Reportage) by Walker will be on display at the International Photographic Exhibition alongside other top photographic works from the competition.

ELITE MASTER ARTIST DEGREE AWARDED
Joan H. Walker of The PAWtographers was one of only 13 image makers recognized internationally for superior image making with Professional Photographers of America’s Master Artist degree.

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA — Joan H. Walker of The PAWtographers in Jacksonville has earned the Master Artist degree from Professional Photographers of America (PPA). The degree will be presented to Walker by PPA president Kira Derryberry, M.Photog.Cr., CPP, at the association’s annual convention, Imaging USA, to be held in Louisville, KY, in January 2024.
The Master Artist degree is an achievement of the highest caliber. It means that Walker has met the standards of excellence set by PPA. She has been awarded the Master Artist degree in recognition of her superior photographic competence and enhancement of images with artistic techniques as demonstrated through image excellence, advanced education, and service to the profession.
Walker’s Master Artist degree—and all the expertise it requires—illustrates her accomplishments and talent as one of a select few.

The International Pet Photographer of the Year Awards (IPPY) is a prestigious international print competition that had more than 2000 entries from the top pet photographers WORLDWIDE.
It is an immense honor to be awarded the medals of two silvers and one bronze. Additionally, all images entered received a highest professional standard rating for pet photography.

Jacksonville Pet Photographer Wins PHOTOSHOPWORLD GURU Award
The Guru Awards are a special Photoshop and photography contest just for attendees of the Photoshop World Conference, which was created to honor and recognize the design, photography, retouching, and creativity of the thousands of attendees.
The GURU Award for Photoshop artistry is the most highly coveted award internationally for photoshop composite work.
As part of the award, the art piece was published in the PHOTOSHOP Magazine.

Jacksonville Pet Photographer Sweeps Competition

The award winners and degree recipients for the Professional Photographers of North Carolina's annual print competition and convention were announced Aug. 5 in Durham and Joan Walker who owns Joan H Walker PAWtography (formerly Woof Tracks Photography) ... swept the Pets and Animal Category.
... a total of eight Court of Honor awards, one Loan and six category placements .. Walker also received two Fellow of Photography Degrees: red for photographic excellence in print competition and black for service/education. Because of the dual degree, she now wears a red and black combined Fellows of Photography degree, along with a gold chevron in recognition of continued excellence in print competition and service/education.
"These images are everyone's pets. Thats what makes this year's win -- anbd every year's wins -- so special. I don't hire models, or go to special locations or set up anything special to try to win a print competition. These images are what I do every day for my clients and for dogs in need to try to get them adopted"

The award winners for the Professional Photographers of North Carolina's annual print competition were announced Aug. 6 in Durham with Joan H Walker, M.Photog., CPP owner of Joan H Walker Photography and Joan H Walker PAWtography [formerly Woof Tracks Photography]... receiving not only 20 awards overall for her photography but also the highly coveted American Society of Photographers State Elite Award.
Walker has won the ASP State Elite Award two years in a row with last year's award from Virginia Professional Photographers Association.
