JUST AN OLDE ENGLISH BULLDOGGE
Livin' the Life in Jacksonville!
Meet Mille
Mille was rescued a few years ago by her owner, Jacob. According to Jacob, Mille wasn't being a "bad" dog or having any behavioral issues -- she was just a typical, rambunctious puppy.
Apparently, Mille's original owners simply weren't prepared for taking care of a puppy her size and activity level. Thankfully, Jacob stepped into her life at just the right time and she is enjoying life to the max.
What is an Olde English Bulldogge?
The Olde English Bulldogge (OEB) is a registered breed with the United Kennel Club. It is included in the "Guardian Dog Group," which is made up of breeds, such as, Doberman Pinschers, Great Danes, Boxers, Mastiffs, Newfoundlands and Rottweilers, to name a few.
The breed is new (or old) depending on how you look at its history. "New" in that a breeding program was begun in 1971 to "return the bulldog to the appearance of the Regency-Period bulldog" or what was formerly recognized as the original bull baiting dogs of the early 1800s. The OEB was recognized as a breed by the UKC in 2014.
The breed could be considered "Old" in that the OEB was selectively bred to return what is now recognized as the English Bulldog back to what could be considered its original confirmation as it appeared in the 1700s.
The UKC describes the disposition of the Olde English Bulldogge as "confident, friendly and alert" and that the OEB should be "animated and expressive, both in and out of the show ring."
We think Mille nailed it!
